Why We Love Jackie Quezada: Jackie is wonderful because she is always on top of everything. She often goes beyond what a typical volunteer does, for example she gave up extra time to learn the curriculum - she came in during spring break to learn the self-defense moves for this session. She dove right into the hands-on self-defense with the girls, correcting their techniques and letting them practice with her on the mats. She has been very helpful in class, she always plays with the girls and has really opened up. She is great with the girls, very reliable, hardworking, and talkative. Jackie, thank you for all you do!
Who's The STRONGest Person You Know: It would have to be me. After my dad was deported from the country, I have faced many struggles. Also, I had struggles and difficulties learning in high school. Even though school has been a challenge for me, I will continue my post-secondary education and to take opportunities and risks that will help my community and family.
What's The SMARTest Thing You Have Ever Heard: "Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my equal." – Albert Camus
What's The BOLDest Thing You Have Ever Done: Last year I stood for social justice and for equality supporting Senate Bill 170. I was involved in calling senators and leaving voice mails. Also, I had conversations with our elected officials. I also organized students in my high school to write letters to voice their opinion. I'm a risk taker because I can support what I believe and I will continue to take challenges to allow justice to prevail in the world.
