Why We Love Katherine Abe: "She has organized Lockheed Martin's Women's Intrinsic Network's participation at Girls Inc. for the past 2 years. As a result of this partnership, GIMD now offers rocket classes and the Lockheed women recently did a Career Day with our youth. Her communications are thorough and she works with WIN to improve upon the projects ensuring that 'lessons learned' are incorporated and carried from one year to the next. It is nearly impossible to know the level of impact created for girls as a result of Katherine's efforts to coordinate the work of WIN, however simply by exposing the girls to the work of Lockheed may trigger a dream and an interest in science and technology."
Who's The STRONGest Person You Know: My mom is the strongest person I know. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. After undergoing rounds of radiation and chemotherapy treatments, she is now in remission. From the moment she heard the news, my mom made up her mind that she was going to fight the cancer and not give up. She inspires me with her strength and passion to regain her life back.
What's The SMARTest Thing You Have Ever Heard: The smartest thing I have ever heard is to stay in school, and to choose to do well. Each one of us has great potential, and school really helps us discover what we like, and how to do it well. I think our education is the springboard to the rest of our life.
What's The BOLDest Thing You Have Ever Done: The boldest thing I have ever done is accept a software engineering job in Denver! I lived in Texas most of my life, and it was basically all I knew. My family, friends, everything that was familiar to me was in Texas. Moving to Denver really helped me take charge of my life after college, and it's the best decision I ever made!
