Why We Love Stephanie Booker: Stephanie started volunteering last session with 5th and 6th grade in the Discovery class. She is well educated on women's history and provided a lot of insight for the girls as to influential women in their history. Currently, she is working with Kristin with the 3rd graders. They are doing stepping stones, a physical activity program, and again, she brings wonderful experience to the class. Stephanie has lots of energy and enthusiasm. The girls request to work with her and love to play games with her. She is able to get them excited about whatever activity they are doing as well as being able to keep them focused on the task at hand. Additionally, she makes a marked effort to get to know the girls better. She spends all her free time talking to the girls. Finally, she is great at figuring out which girls are not participating as well and is able to get them involved. In general, having Stephanie in the classroom makes Kristin's job much easier! Stephanie, thank you for all you do!
Who's The STRONGest Person You Know: The strongest person I know is a friend of mine in Tanzania. She is a widow, but she raises her own child and three other young girls and manages to make it through challenges that I could never dream of.
What's The SMARTest Thing You Have Ever Heard: The smartest thing I have ever heard is from naturalist John Muir: "Tug on anything and you will find it connected to everything else in the universe." Even though this quote is most often applied to environmental issues, I find that it really does apply to everyone and everything! It is a helpful reminder that even though we try very hard to set ourselves apart from our natural environment and from other cultures, we are all still connected to each other in exceptional ways. Consider how many people and natural products from all over the world were involved in just creating a t-shirt that we wear!
What's The BOLDest Thing You Have Ever Done: The boldest thing I have ever done is to train and run for a marathon--26.2 miles! I am still training, but even if I don't finish--signing up was pretty bold for me.
