Kelsey Harrison and Lindsey Knickerbocker

Youth Center Volunteers
Why We Love Kelsey Harrison and Lindsey Knickerbocker:
Kelsey Harrison has been a Volunteer Leader in the Youth Center since September 2009, giving more than 360 hours of her time through the UCD Work Study program! Kelsey's main assignment has been tutoring 5th and 6th graders, and she has also been a Program Assistant and helped out with various administrative tasks. According to our staff, Kelsey "has a good relationship with all the girls, has offered to help in other classes and maintains her class very well. I feel Kelsey deserves this because she is always in her classroom early, setting up and preparing for the girls. She always has a great attitude and connects very well with the girls." Kelsey, thank you for all you do!

Lindsey Knickerbocker has been a tutor in the 1st/2nd grade class since November 2009. Even though Lindsey works a full-time job, she leaves early one day a week to be able to provide homework assistance to our girls! "She contributes in the classroom by being proactive and just taking the reigns. She works her way around the room, making sure she works with every girl. I fee like Lindsey should be Volunteer of the Month because she has been very consistent." It is great to have her back with the same class as last year, continuing to build relationships with the girls and encouraging them to succeed in school. Lindsey, thank you for all you do!

Who's The STRONGest Person You Know:
Kelsey: My mom, she works so hard to give her kids a good life, while making sure she has one herself. Even after a hard day at work, I'm never surprised when she offers to make ice-cream sundaes and spend time with the family, instead of going to bed like most would. Strongest person ever!

Lindsey: I think the strongest person I know is my mom. She has recently returned to school to finish her degree. I am so proud that after so much hardship, she can still do things that improve herself and her quality of life!

What's The SMARTest Thing You Have Ever Heard:
Kelsey: Life isn't about finding yourself; its about creating yourself.

Lindsey: The smartest thing I have ever heard...Someone told me to live life for myself and not to worry about what anyone else thinks! Life is what you make it!

What's The BOLDest Thing You Have Ever Done:
Kelsey: Moved out knowing I'd have to support myself as soon as I left. Although it gets hard at times, I'm glad I'm able to learn responsibility early in life and wouldn't take it back if I could.

Lindsey: The boldest think I ever did was move to Colorado. Away from all my friends and family.
