In their own words, past and present Girls Inc. of Metro Denver volunteers share their own experiences and talk about the benefits of volunteering.
"Every day I feel like I am needed and appreciated, and I walk out the door with a sense of reward and a smile on my face. Not only do I get the satisfaction of teaching, but I am also taught something every day by one of the girls about myself or about how to find joy in the simple things in life."

"It is exciting to know that Girls Inc. girls have an opportunity greater than they might even imagine. They are exposed to so many different kinds of skills and talent from the staff and volunteers. I enjoy volunteering because the girls are so receptive and eager to learn new things. I get to share what I already know and in the process I grow too. Everyone has something they can teach no matter what age you are."

"When I am with the girls, I try to challenge them to rely on themselves and try new things, rather than have us help them all the time. Every time we go outside, a new girl always wants to try the rock climbing part of the playground, but feels like she needs our help. After a little pep talk, and a few tries, they are old pros and realize that they can do new things. I love helping the girls become more independent and confident in themselves."
