Applications are now open for the Girls Inc. of Metro Denver Scholarship Program! This year, the scholarships being awarded are as follows:
Helen McLoraine Teen Leadership Scholarship (10th grade Girls Inc. members)
Helen McLoraine Strong, Smart, and Bold Scholarship (11th and 12th grade Girls Inc. members)
Helen McLoraine Collegiate Scholarship (College students who are former or current Girls Inc. members)
Jacobs Engineering Scholarship (12th grade Girls Inc. members)
Kena Contreras Memorial Scholarship: Kena was a passionate person and shared her opinions freely. She had a gift for connecting with people young and old and from all walks of life. She had a huge heart and always found a way to help others including strangers in their time of need. Kena’s career had several chapters including being a Foster Care Advocate for the Arizona State Supreme Court, a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and the last and most fulfilling was as a teacher for grades 4-6. The Kena Contreras memorial scholarship is to honor her memory, inspire others to pursue their dreams through education and to make a difference in the lives of those who receive the scholarship. This $5,000 award will be awarded to a current 12th grade student planning to enroll in a 4-year college in fall 2023. The award is open to any area of post-secondary study.
Dyan Foss STEM Scholarship (10th, 11th, and 12th grade Girls Inc. members planning to pursue a STEM career and who have completed 150 hours of Girls Inc. STEM programs)
High Tech High Heels STEM Scholarship (12th grade Girls Inc. members planning to pursue a STEM career and major)
Tiffany K. Payne and Matt Mann Community College Scholarship (12th grade Girls Inc. members who will be first-generation college students and are planning to attend a Colorado Community College)
To be eligible for scholarships, you must be in 10th, 11th, 12th grade or college and be a current or former Girls Inc. member. You must have a 2.0 or higher GPA. The application details and components are described in the documents and Google forms below, but to the basic components of the general application are:
- A cover page with personal contact information
- A personal essay
- An official transcript from your school
- Two letters of recommendation
- For finalists, an interview with the scholarship panel is required and will take place on March 4th, 2023
Applications for all Girls Inc. of Metro Denver Scholarships are due on Friday, January 27th 2023 at 5pm. Scholarship applications can be completed online here https://forms.gle/X6BGPvS1MLTa3DNw8 or can be printed and completed on paper. For paper applications, applications must be received in the mail or hand-delivered to the following address by Friday, January 27th 2023 at 5pm.
