The Girls Inc. of Metro Denver Scholarship Application is now available online here! Reminder, the deadline is January 31st at 5pm. If you need help with your scholarship application or have questions, come join us for tutoring and scholarship help! Come get help with any homework or studying you might need a hand with, or have individual support to search and apply for scholarships, research colleges, work on personal statements, resumés, or any other items you might need to prepare for college or your career, or succeed in school. This is available starting on January 6th on Mondays from 4pm to 6pm and Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6pm and you can come for all or part of the time. You can also make an individual appointment by emailing smcgill@gidenver.org

Tuesday, January 14th, 12:30pm-1:30pm – College Womxn’s Group 

This event is for college folks and tasty lunch will be provided. This month, we will be talking about relationships, dating, and healthy sexuality in college, and will also have free safer sex products for everyone who comes. Location is currently being finalized so please RSVP to smcgill@gidenver.org so we can update you on the location!

Saturday, January 18th, 8:30am-12pm – Denver Womxn’s March

Join Girls Inc. participants and staff to march in this year’s Womxn’s March. The theme this year is all about womxn voting and exercising our rights, as well as connecting with local nonprofits and organizations. We will meet at Girls Inc. and ride down to participate in the march and community resource fair together. This is a field trip, so you must RSVP to smcgill@gidenver.org or 303-893-4363×124 and complete a permission slip to attend. Breakfast and lunch snacks will be provided.

Monday, January 20th, 9:30am-1pm – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Marade 

Join Girls Inc. to march in the Marade to support justice for all and celebrate the legacy of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will meet at Girls Inc. at 9:30am and ride to the march. This is a field trip, so RSVPs to smcgill@gidenver.org or 303-893-4363 x124 and a signed permission slip are required to attend. Snacks will be provided.

Tuesday, January 21st, 6pm-8:30pm – Personal Statements Workshop

Come get strategies from college and scholarship expert Debra Suniga on how to make an attention-grabbing personal statement for college and scholarship essays! Get individual help on polishing your existing personal statement if you have one, or create a first draft! This will be especially helpful for folks working on the Girls Inc. Scholarship! Dinner will be provided.

Thursday, January 23rd, 6pm-7:30pm – Barre Fitness Class 

Learn from guest instructor Samantha Morse about barre fitness, a ballet-inspired workout that is fun and great for flexibility and strength! We will have extra water bottles and all the equipment, just bring yourself and your comfortable clothes and shoes!

Saturday, January 25th, 12:30pm-3pm – THRIVE

Run by Girls Inc. participants, this group is all about how to express yourself, manage stress, and have fun with art. Meet new people and enjoy creative projects! Lunch will be provided.

Tuesday, January 28th, 4pm-8pm – Girls Inc. Scholarship Help Night 

If you need help putting the final touches on the Girls Inc. Scholarship, or in case you procrastinated and need to start working on your essay, we’ve got your back! Stop by any time this evening to get individual support on your Girls Inc. Scholarship application! Snacks and computers will be provided to make sure you can get everything complete by January 31st!

Wednesday, January 29th, 5pm-7:30pm – Pitch Perfect and Networking Night 

Learn how to deliver your personal pitch to potential employers, collaborators, college and scholarship representatives, and anyone else you meet in a professional setting! Practice your networking skills with professional womxn from many different career fields in Denver! Make connections that can lead to internships and jobs! Eat fancy snacks just like at a professional networking event! Professional clothing is recommended. Please RSVP to smcgill@gidenver.org to attend.

Last but not least, Save the Date for Saturday, February 1st, exact times to be determined, for another great career preparation event, the Girls Inc. Leadership Summit! Learn from professional womxn at Travelers Insurance all about how to prepare for the career you want, from networking and interviewing, to how to have a great resumé and cover letter!
