(HOPE) are pleased to announce the second edition of the HOPE Nonpartisan and Binational Public Service Fellowship, in partnership with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and Aspen Institute Mexico.

The HOPE Binational Fellowship is an executive leadership program for outstanding Latina professionals who, through increased competence in national and global economic and security issues, are in a position to make urgent and long-lasting improvements in the lives of Latino communities in the United States and Mexico.

“With the success of the Binational Fellowship pilot program in 2018, we are excited to expand this network of powerful change makers who are strengthening ties between the U.S. and Mexico,” said Helen Iris Torres, Executive Director and CEO of HOPE. “This is an incredibly unique forum for Latina leaders not only to broaden their leadership potential, but to also lead the charge in achieving representation parity for Latinas nationally and globally.”

The Fellowship’s goals are to:

  • Immerse Fellows in the best research and analysis on critical national and global economic and security issues;
  • Create relationships between Fellows and national and international leaders who will serve as resources in their future endeavors; and,
  • Strengthen Fellows’ policy ideas, strategic thinking, and leadership style to maximize impact as a national and global leader.

The HOPE Fellowship program is comprised of 15 to 20 participants per year with the goal of 45 to 60 women completing the program in the first three years. The 2019 program will launch in Washington, DC on July 9-11, 2019. Fellows have been selected through a rigorous process following nominations by recognized leaders, mentors, national partners, or the HOPE Binational Advisory Group. To see a list of participating Fellows and the Advisory Group visit www.latinas.org/binational-fellowship.

Grupo Salinas is proud to sponsor this innovative program and Chair the HOPE Binational Advisory Group, providing guidance to the organization’s leaders as it works to grow its impact at the national and international levels.

“Grupo Salinas is honored to build capacity in our leaders, enhance their skills, and provide our binational talent with the best tools to develop their potential,” said Ricardo Salinas, Chairman and Founder of Grupo Salinas. “Creating opportunities for women at every level, within the private, public and social sectors, increases economic growth and enhances the well-being of communities.”

The fellowship program features on-site and off-site learning experiences, including two seminars, one in Washington, D.C. in partnership with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and a second in Mexico City in partnership with Aspen Institute Mexico. Participants will also attend Ciudad de las Ideas, an International Festival of Brilliant Minds that includes presentations from over 60 speakers, from scientists to thought leaders. The festival will take place from November 8-10, 2019 in Puebla, Mexico (www.ciudaddelasideas.com)

“The Woodrow Wilson Center understands the value of women leaders as change agents,” mentioned Jane Harman, President of the Woodrow Wilson Center. “HOPE’s nonpartisan, binational program will enhance opportunities for women leaders across the United States and Mexico.”

“We look forward to welcoming HOPE participants in Mexico again”, said Enrique Berruga, Aspen Mexico’s CEO. “It is a great opportunity to foster relationships and thoughtful leaders” he concluded.
